On October 28, 2024, YCON Sudan had the honor of briefing the United Nations Security Council on the ongoing crisis in Sudan. This opportunity was made possible through the invitation of the Swiss Mission to the UN Security Council. During this high-level engagement, Hanna Eltigani, Assistant Secretary-General of YCON presented firsthand insights from conflict-affected communities, shared data and observations collected by youth observers, and highlighted the urgent needs and perspectives of Sudanese youth.
Our briefing emphasized the impact of ongoing conflicts on civilians, the challenges faced by youth in participating meaningfully in civic life, and the importance of international support for sustainable solutions. This opportunity allowed YCON to directly influence global discussions, advocate for humanitarian assistance, and call for accountability and protection of vulnerable communities.
Through engagements like these, YCON amplifies the voices of Sudanese youth, strengthens civic participation, and fosters partnerships that contribute to peace, stability, and actionable
solutions in Sudan.
