YCON Sudan leaders were welcomed by The Carter Center in Atlanta following meetings with U.N. and U.S. officials to discuss the devastating impacts of war in Sudan. This engagement highlights our commitment to amplifying the voices of youth and women affected by conflict and advocating for their active participation in peacebuilding and humanitarian initiatives.

The Carter Center has highlighted the vital role of YCON Sudan since our founding, particularly in response to the April 15, 2023 war. A featured video showcases our shift toward international advocacy, amplifying the voices and experiences of Sudanese

communities affected by conflict. This recognition honors the dedication of YCON members across Sudan, reflecting their tireless efforts to monitor, report, and advocate for the protection of civilians and accountability for violations.

YCON Sudan participated in the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) sessions in Banjul, Gambia, from May 2–11, 2025. Represented by our Observation Coordinator and Advocacy Officer, the delegation briefed participants on the human rights situation in Sudan, engaged with regional and international officials, met with relevant organizations, and contributed to discussions aimed at mobilizing regional and international advocacy to help end the war.

The 2025 Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) Thematic Review on Youth, Peace and  Security (YPS), commissioned by the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO)  in partnership with UNFPA, UNICEF and Climate Security Mechanism, and  led by the UN University’s Centre for Policy Research, outlines  programmatic best practices and lessons learned on youth participation  in peacebuilding, drawing on examples from 41 PBF-funded projects  spanning 33 countries and territories between 2018-2022.
