In July 2025, Sudan witnessed a sharp escalation in human rights violations as the armed conflict continued to expand into new states, including Sennar, El Gezira, White Nile, and the Darfur region. These violations included unfair trials, arbitrary arrests, indiscriminate attacks on civilians, and a severe deterioration in health and humanitarian conditions. This decline reflects the state’s failure to protect civilians, the absence of accountability, and the persistent use of violence as a means of conflict management. The situation demands urgent and effective intervention at both national and international levels.
The month of July 2025 also saw notable political developments, most prominently the announcement by the Sudan Founding Alliance (Tasis) of the formation of its government in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, on July 26, 2025. The coalition’s official spokesperson declared the appointment of a president, a vice president of the Presidential Council, and a prime minister. This move established a parallel government to the military-run authority based in Port Sudan, which in turn denounced the newly announced body as “virtual.”
Below is the July 2025 report compiled by the Youth Citizens Observers Network (YCON) relying on primary and secondary data gathered by its local observers distributed across all states of Sudan, it reflects on social, economic and political implication of war, in addition to asylum and displacement movements, and the condition of the displaced and refugees in camps, from June 27 to July 26, 2025, in addition to our recommendations (we youth) to help resolve the Sudanese crisis.
