The Youth Citizens Observers Network (YCON) is closely monitoring with grave concern the situation in El Fasher, North Darfur, which recently came under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) after a prolonged siege that inflicted severe humanitarian suffering on the population.
YCON field observers reported that on November 26–27, 2025, serious human rights violations took place, including mass killings and executions targeting civilians based on ethnic affiliation. Video footage circulating on social media confirmed incidents of killings and the detention of large groups of fleeing residents.
Observers further documented that numerous civilians were detained while attempting to leave the city, with many executed, and some held for ransom or threatened with death. Communication with several individuals on the ground, including medical personnel working at the city hospital, has been lost entirely.
These actions represent blatant violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law, for which the RSF bear full criminal and moral responsibility.
Reports also indicate that significant numbers of displaced persons have reached "Tawila" area after a perilous journey, raising concerns about worsening humanitarian conditions in areas already overcrowded with displaced populations.
Condemnation and Appeal
Condemnation:
YCON condemns the RSF for their continued violations of the laws of war and international human rights law. YCON emphasizes the urgent obligation to protect civilians in accordance with legal, ethical, and humanitarian standards.
Appeal:
YCON calls on national and international organizations to intervene immediately and apply pressure to prevent further attacks on civilians. YCON also urges the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors to deliver food and relief assistance to those fleeing El Fasher to other regions.
